Why pay extra for Pilates Equipment Sessions? ...
Because, as one client says, "It's worth every penny!"
The Pilates Equipment simultaneously supports and challenges the body and mind with effective rehab,
conditioning, and functional training movements. Appropriate for people with rehab and re-conditioning needs
and the elite athlete alike, the Pilates Equipment works using springs (rather than weights) and pulleys with
ropes and straps to create resistance and challenge for the body. This system allows the body to experience
positions and movements that would otherwise be inaccessible due to tight, weak and unstable joints and muscles.
The result is supple, strong muscles and a focused mind trained to safely perform daily movements and complex exercises
with agility, ease and grace.
Here's what people are saying about their Pilates Equipment experiences:
"Pilates taught me ways to strengthen certain muscle groups to protect my joints and prevent injury and pain ... and to enhance the fun activities in life."
"My core strength has improved my running and cycling!"
"Pilates has definitely reshaped my body ... I have gained so much strength. My posture has improved tremendously. Doing Pilates, I don't injure myself and I have become so strong."
"Pilates takes me out of my very mental, thought obsessed and a bit stressed world, and brings my attention to the moment, to the breath and to the relationship between my mind and my body. I leave refreshed, feeling stronger ... I'm more aware of my posture day to day."
What is Pilates?
Joseph Pilates (1880-1967), originally from Germany, created
this exercise program for himself as a natural way to recover from health issues he experienced as a child. Having
personal success with his own program, he then shared his program while interning with other German nationals during WWI.
During this time he also began working with non-ambulatory hospital patients where he began using the hospital bed
springs to move the body. This is how he began developing his equipment.
Well versed in boxing, martial arts, yoga, skiing and circus performing, which he had done as a teenager and young man,
Joseph left Germany with the rising power of the Nazi's and came to New York where he opened a boxing studio.
Surrounded by dance studios, many dancers came to learn of his exercise regime and became regular students of his to
not only strengthen and stretch the muscles, but to also rehabilitate injuries. This remained the case for several
decades until Oprah began practicing pilates. Since then, top level athletes and celebrities alike began Pilates and
raved about their own results.
All Pilates mat classes are included with your membership, with no extra charge.
